Taking Good Digital Photos
General Tips Experiment with the different modes on your camera to make the most of your photos (landscape mode,sports/action mode, macro mode, night mode, automatic mode, etc.). Using "Automatic" will allow you to capture more photos without changing settings. However, "Party" mode will allow you to easily get action shots in darker lighting. Also, use the Rule of Thirds - splitting a photo up into thirds, both horizontally and vertically, to create well-balanced and interesting shots. Pictures of People Focus on people's faces, not their bodies, unless their clothing or body is the focal point of the photo. Be aware, too, that the eyes and the mouth show the most emotion. Lighting When taking photos, the sun should be behind you and to one side to illuminate a subject's face and cast shadows to emphasize form. Try to avoid bright light or extreme darkness, and when shadows are present, use the flash to add light to subjects/faces and to fill in shadows.
