“We are thrilled to be taking this next step in bringing a world-class trail where individuals and families can walk, run, or ride bicycles safely. The Paradise Coast Trail will benefit the health and economic vitality of Collier County for decades to come,” said Craig Manchen, president of the Naples Pathways Coalition.

In March 2021, Naples Pathways Coalition selected Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. from a number of highly-qualified proposals to complete the scope of work. Florida Department of Transportation’s Notice to Proceed is expected soon. Over the subsequent 12-15 months, engineers will be collecting and inventorying data, conducting public outreach, and developing an action plan. In addition to the feasibility study, Kimley-Horn will complete environmental reviews for two priority segments that will be identified through the feasibility study. Upon completion of the study, stakeholders will have a report with key milestones to guide the development of the Paradise Coast Trail.

Our team is mobilizing the resources to provide the community with a comprehensive feasibility analysis and the plans to move forward,” said Jim Wood, multimodal practice leader with Kimley-Horn and Associates.

Originally introduced to the Collier County community in 2018, Naples Pathways Coalition’s vision is to build the Paradise Coast Trail as a premier 70+ mile trail built exclusively for safe and enjoyable walking, running, and biking. In addition to improving safety and expanding transportation options, the trail will improve the health and wellness of the community. The project has been named a Priority Trail by partner Rails to Trails Conservancy for its transformative impact on the community. Economic benefits are expected to include directly creating 400+ jobs, increased property values, and stabilizing the tourism industry by diversifying outdoor activities for visitors.

Funding for the feasibility study is provided by the Florida Department of Transportation through a Local Legislative Funding Request, Collier County, the City of Naples, and donations made to Naples Pathways Coalition., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to create safe, bikeable and walkable communities in Collier County.
