The LinkedIn Advantage

LinkedIn currently has 756 million users worldwide, with 178 million users in the United States. And, according to BusinessforApps.com 59.9 percent of users are 25-34 years old. so creating a business page is the perfect place to connect with both potential employees and customers.

To take advantage of LinkedIn to be more visible to potential customers, make sure you take the time to fill out your LinkedIn company profile completely. Give multiple ways to contact your company. Take time to write the “about” section to explain exactly what your company does and be sure to include keywords about your business and industry. We also recommend using imagery that is consistent with your website and other social media platforms. When users pass from one channel to the next, the consistency will help them feel more confident in your brand. Completed company pages generally receive twice as many visitors as those with incomplete pages.

Once your LinkedIn company page is complete, never let it sit static. While a weekly post would be good, you can be among the top producers and schedule three times per week. You can also consider utilizing Showcase pages and keep up with them as well, constantly posting relevant new content to stay in front of your contacts.

Your updates must be visual. Social media is now driven by images and video. Text-only posts will not get the attention that a post with a compelling photo or graphic will. Numerous free programs online (like Canva or Ripl) let you create professional-looking graphics. Frequently change your banner image to make announcements or promote your services.

Invite comments by asking thoughtful questions and targeting your post to the most relevant audience. Target your Showcase pages to what your visitors are specifically interested in, like industry news, charity efforts, sponsorships, meetups, etc. You should target posts by location and at least two other fields, such as group, school, or job type.
Similar to Showcase pages, the careers page should be updated regularly and is a great place to promote your company’s employee culture. Your entire LinkedIn profile should entice potential employers to work for you, and for potential customers to contact you.

Finally, keep your updates concise. Just because you have the space to write a lengthy post, doesn’t mean your followers will read more text than the length of a single tweet. Be short and to the point.
