Naples, FL – [March 8, 2025] – In a thrilling start to its inaugural season, FC Naples battled to a 1-1 draw against the Chattanooga Red Wolves at Paradise Coast Sports Complex. This historic match marked the club’s first official competition in USL League One, showcasing the team’s resilience and determination in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.

A record-breaking 4,618 fans filled Paradise Coast Sports Complex, creating an electrifying atmosphere and demonstrating the immense support for FC Naples. This turnout highlights the community’s excitement for FC Naples and signifies the club’s growing impact on the community.

Andrés Ferrín led the attack, scoring the first goal in club history. Luka Prpa and Kevin O’Connor each created multiple scoring opportunities, demonstrating their creativity and playmaking ability. Defender Brecc Evans played a pivotal role in maintaining possession and structure, completing an impressive 93 passes to anchor the backline. Goalkeeper Edward Delgado showcased composure and reliability, ensuring a solid defensive performance throughout the match.

Midfielder Chris Heckenberg expressed optimism about the team’s attacking display, stating, “I think it was really promising. In preseason, we didn’t score maybe as many as we would have liked, but out here today, I think we had what, six or seven shots, a whole bunch on target. The penalty was obviously really good, so I think it’s really promising for us going into the rest of the season.”

FC Naples controlled much of the game, dominating possession with 66.8% compared to Chattanooga’s 33.2%. Despite conceding an early second-half goal to Chattanooga’s Omar Hernandez, FC Naples responded with determination. Following consistent offensive pressure, Ferrín’s equalizer ignited the crowd and set the tone for what promises to be an exciting season.

Head Coach Matt Poland emphasized the importance of confidence and resilience, saying, “Our players should be confident in the way that we play, staying true to how we want to play and continuing to be resilient when things aren’t going our way. You know, eventually, the game’s going to open up a little bit more, and there’s going to be goal-scoring opportunities. And the biggest is staying focused and disciplined to make sure you’re in the right spot when that happens”
