Developers for 1624 Gulf Shore Blvd. North have partnered with the City of Naples Fire-Rescue Department to provide a rare opportunity for training. While permits are being processed for demolition of the hurricane-damaged buildings, the owners of 1624 Gulf Shore Blvd. N. saw the opportunity to support first responders and offered the property to the City of Naples Fire-Rescue Department for training purposes.
“Our project team is invested in supporting the local community, so this was a natural collaboration,” said Parker Borelli of Borelli Construction. “Training opportunities like this help firefighters navigate scenarios that can’t be taught in a classroom. We hope that this improves safety for our local first responders and our neighbors.”
Between July 28 and August 1, firefighters utilized the existing buildings for realistic emergency response training scenarios. The exercises included search-and-rescue drills, roof ventilation techniques, forcible entry procedures, and other critical emergency response scenarios that are difficult to replicate in traditional training facilities. Additionally, firefighters were able to refine team coordination and enhance tactical readiness, which supports faster response times and more effective emergency mitigation.
Deputy Chief Corey Adamski emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships. “Fire-Rescue Departments utilize training structures and props to keep skills sharp and learn new ones. The opportunity to test these skills in real buildings does not come along very often. We are grateful for opportunities brought forth by public-private partnerships like this to ensure our personnel are at the top of their game. These opportunities are invaluable to our members and the community; we truly appreciate Borelli Construction offering us this opportunity,” Adamski said.
Once permits are approved, Borelli Construction will proceed with demolition and begin developing the site into an exclusive collection of 14 private coastal residences. The new development will feature hurricane-resistant construction, individual garages, private elevators, a signature outdoor retreat, and resort-style amenities.
